TRITAN OEM Mounted Bearing Unit Construction

The housings for TRITAN OEM’ mounted units are constructed in one piece of high quality gray cast iron for maximum strength, rigidity and durability. Mounting surfaces and bearing seats are machined for proper alignment. Solid bases add support around bolt holes.

Also available are pressed stamped steel housings for light duty applications, and nickel-plated, stainless steel and thermoplastic housings that resist rust and deterioration in corrosive and washdown.

Standard units have dual seals consisting a synthetic rubber oil seal fixed to the outer ring that seals against the OD, and a steel slinger fixed to the inner ring that rotates with the shaft and protects against contaminants. Triple lip seals (“R3” suffix) are available for severe operating environments.

Units grip the shaft with two knurled cup point setscrews placed 120º apart, or eccentric locking collars ideal for one directional applications. Concentric split locking collars are available for bi-directional applications.

Insert Bearings

Insert bearings are constructed of 52100 high carbon, chromium bearing steel. Rings are hardened to HRC 59-63 for greater wear resistance and strength. 440C stainless steel insert bearings are available for corrosive environments.

Insert bearings have spherical ODs that self-align in outer housings. Inserts with cylindrical ODs are available on request.
